...but not to Transits.
Hello chaps and chappesses.
Years ago I had a Mk6 which I converted from being a Yorkshire Police Riot Van into a camper which could also pull my Locost race car (750 Motor Club race series in case anyone is interested).
In 2015 we bought an ex-City Link Mk7 Jumbo called ‘Yogi’ as a consequence of its registration. Intending to keep it only for six months, whilst we moved ‘stuff’ to a house in south west France, it lasted for two years and made about fifteen return trips, each being 1300 miles.
Eventually we sold it, and then sometime later my wife decided that she would like stainless steel and glass balustrades at the French house. (Don't knock it; it justified the capital expenditure purchase authorisation for a TIG welder)
Oh, but how can we get 5m lengths of stainless tube to France?
Answer: buy another Transit.
So we’ve now got a ‘63 plate Mk7 Jumbo in Blazer Blue, which thankfully has air con, and now, thanks to Loot’s incredibly helpful posts, is equipped with Cruise Control.
I’ve also fitted an Android Head Unit to bring the dashboard up to date.
Given that the van does 90% of its mileage in France I might buy a set of LHD headlights rather than use that nasty blanking tape.
Am also contemplating a Level 2 instrument cluster to get air temperature and trip features.
Have just invested in Forscan to see what else I can do….
