Hi I’m Dodger,
I have a 2007 Mk7 VM, 2.4 RWD Mid MWB, we call him Heathen. It’s for vanlife, with the ultimate goal of a fully finished motorhome (though the temporary setup has been in for over a year now ). The only notes about it are that it’s right hand drive, and I’ve added a towball.
Here in Aus there aren’t many mechanics willing to work on Transits (though I have a specialist mechanic locally), so I’m learning how to look after it myself as much as possible to ensure I have the best chances of keeping it running once I’m travelling. I’ve removed the door panels to lubricate the windows and resolve a slippage issue (there was a mallet in the bottom of my passenger door cavity causing the window to jump off the slide, of all things), and just successfully completed my first solo brake pad change (rear), so getting more comfortable but only an entry level DIYer still. My goal is to be able to service it myself (I purchased the Haynes Manual as my starting point).
I found this forum when having a code issue (the typical turbo overpowered/underpowered combo), and found it really helpful a number of times since, so decided to join. Hopefully I can contribute something helpful for others (and in the unfortunate though inevitable instance that I have difficulties get some advice myself). Not looking for specific advice immediately (though opinions on the value of owning a 3 part workshop manual would be appreciated, there’s one going for a few hundred AUD near me at the moment).
Thanks for having me
