New here so just saying hi.

I'm actually here to find myself a second generation Tourneo/minibus for the family.

Were the MK3 and MK4's minibuses and the MK5 Tourneo?

I tried a wanted ad but it's waiting for approval.

Anyway that is why I'm here specifically for but obviously there is going to be the need of ongoing help and support..

I'll also try to help and support others where I can.

Cheers,

Shhhh.

Welcome to the forum :D

Minibus and Tourneo are two different vehicles really; in a nutshell, the Tourneo has less seats (8 or 9 usually)and more luxury than a van or minibus, often classed as an MPV for insurance purposes. Usually based on a SWB low roof vehicle.

Factory built minibus can be a 12 seat SWB or a 17 seat LWB, usually with a semi-high roof, but can also be aftermarket conversions of any specification. These can be difficult to insure in this day and age.

Thanks Guys.

So any MK3 or Mk4 SWB vans (8-9 seats) would have been Tourneo's then?

I've only seen smiley badged "Tourneo's" but have earlier SWB models with rear seats but without the Tourneo badge.

Hopefully either way I'll find one.

Cheers and thanks for the welcome,

Shhhh.

I'm not sure because I've only owned minibuses (Mk4 & Mk5) which I de-seated to 9 seats so that I could insure them at a reasonable price. They definitely had more luxurious 9 seaters in the Mk3 & 4 but not sure if they called them tourneos, or not.
Someone will know, so ask the question in the Mk3/4/5 tech section and see who answers
