black hands and velour seats

Postby 5w30Duncan » Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:25 pm

Evening, just bought my first transit three weeks ago and it's a cracker! 2009 RWD 140 medium wheel base and roof. 205K, taking it to moon miles.

The stereo is missing so nothing like cruise seems to work but after driving iveco dailys for twenty years it feels a solid thing, monocoque so no banging cab mounts every 30k miles! I've replaced all the door locks and handles, done injector seals and found two rockers that were off their rocker, well off the valve stems, so I reseated them, started it up and it fekin destroyed itself

Anyway I've learned a lot on here in the last few weeks, here currently researching camshafts, rocker ladders and how to fix it, have a good feeling about it, and I'm going to save it. Look forward to joining in, Duncan.

Oh my g three years later, so I'm an expert now  on 238k now, almost at the moon, it's been no trouble at all, I've only had to do - front discs, flexi pipes, bearings, track rod ends, control arms, big bottom ball joints, arb bushes, drop links, rear leaf springs, rear discs, two sets of tyres, three oil and filter changes, injector seals, exhaust cam shaft, rocker ladder, scv, prv and pressure sensor, all copper brake pipes, front calipers, rear wheel arches, sills, door steps, chassis repairs over the axle, all door locks, side door rollers, latches, ignition barrel, two sets of wipers, prop shaft bearings, clutch slave and master cylinders, two fuel filters, two air filters, starter motor, rear axle oil seals twice, serpentine belt and tensioner, handbrake cables, horns, glow plugs, have bought every version of forscan, usb and Bluetooth adaptor and a fuel priming bulb.

So it's been a dream to run

But right now it's almost happy, throwing a p0089 on all denso parts which is mystery still, and it's going olive drab ready for the apocalypse, I think it's drawing air round the filter housing and egr needs cleaned out but otherwise I'm finally getting there, so hopefully I can find time to join in a bit and help new owners, they're certainly a labour of love at high miles.

I'm 50 years old today and the bugger has tried to break me, and I beat it  most expensive £800 van I've ever bought.
