Hello,
Good forum content here. I am planning to get a van to convert to a day van next year. I had toyed with the idea of a VW T5, but they are really expensive for what you get and a little too small for what I want it for.
I used to have a 1990 petrol 2.0L transit RWD when I played in bands years ago. Amazing fun.
Next year, as long as WW3 does not start, will see a budget of around £7k max, and I have my eye on the Mk8 L2H3 or H2 transits of around 2014/15/16 for conversion. I figure if a low roof mk8 won't get into car parks then I may as well go large and have the headroom I want. The L2 length looks juuuust about acceptable for parking if there is a parking camera, and I've been reading loads on the maintenence and issues to look out for.

You would probably be OK (heightwise) with a low roof Mk8, but sadly we don't have them in the UK, the smallest being the L2H2. If you want lower/shorter, the Custom fills that gap
