well said :!: , im the chairman for a street fair committee in a small village who gets complaints when nothing is happening and when it does they complain that it wasn't what they wanted, there is only five of us and when we ask for help like running a stall or helping on the gates, we get a yes till the day and no help turns up, so i know how everyone feels about all the work you put in and how it feels when you have finished at the end with that nice feeling of trying to make a differance and succeeding like all of you :D :D :D , . what a brill job you all did and i'm in oar of what was achieved over the weakend nice one , ian.

Well, what a fine wekend that was.Started out 5.30 pm Wednesday eve en Route to Bradford to drop Missus off with Daughter and Grandaughter.Went via Mattblacks to collect foam, carpets and gennie.Nice to see you again Paul.So 11.30 in Bradford and after a curry ,off to bed!!Couldn`t sleep.Up early on Thursday and on way to Ecclesfield.Guys already stripping Lukes van when I got there.Where`s my donor??Many thanks to Muttley(Understand you met the neighbours)for collection and transport to Colin(psv) on M1.And again many thanks to you Colin for bringing it to the site-didn`t realise that you had had a "scary"moment.
No point filling you in on details of who did what and when as photos will show that on here and you`ve already seen a few.
I have been home for an hour now ,not because of any van problems just due to timing of collections etc(my wife was taking a Level 3 Hygeine exam in Kelham Hall,Newark.Notts)and the damn thing didn`t finish till 5.30pm.Did find a couple of commercial breakers on the way though and had lunch in the Rodeo Cafe.(Got the van spruced up a bit there too after all the road crap and the dust from the unit.

Anyway, after a 600 mile round trip weekend ,would I do it again?
Yep,most certainly.Great to put faces to Forum names and meet some of you guys for the first time and hope to see the rest of you at North Weald. It`s a bit far,but..............................................................and there will be more photos.

hi, what i was trying to say is, that no matter how good an event is you will always have personal problems because life is so busy :( even with all best intentions of the folk who wanted to be there, life sometimes stops you from doing what you want to do :( . the van build is still a very good idea and instead of all the bickering :( stand back a moment and look at what the forum has produced and what it is for :D :D :D . if and when the forum starts there next project it might be near another section of the members home towns :D , if that makes sense, ian.

So if we moved the project around a bit to accomadate. How many on here could make a long weekend meet to carry on with the van "darn sarf" then, lets say Brighton,Haywards Heath ,Crawley in Sussex.

I was under the impression that there were quite a few active Forum members in Yorshire,Lancashire,Notts and surrounding Counties within 100 miles or so of the site that we had.

If it had not been for Tony, we would never have even got as far as we have with the build.

i think you would do better if your gonna move it more central bham cocentry rugby be central; for everyone to get to within a cpl of hours
if its got tits or wheels its always gonna end in trouble !!!
anyone can restore a van but it takes a real man to chop it up !!!

600 mile round trip :!: Thats a big journey, well done m8. Dont let the wheels come off the wagon lads as regards to who turned up and who didnt, life is hard nowadays in the current financial climate, but people also shouldnt make idle promises, if you could afford and have the time to go and just couldnt be bothered

It's understandable that people struggled to make it to the build weekend. As Geoff pointed out, fuel is expensive and people have jobs/businesses/lives to lead.....Money is tight for a great number of us through no fault of our own, and I for one would not like to see anyone criticised for not coming up if it wasn't practical for them to do so....I've been involved in this kind of project before, and it's quite normal to have a turnout of 25% of what is promised......At the end of the weekend, we got a lot of work done, and the van was driving under it's own steam, with the people who could make it.
Some people were quite local, and I include myself in that (110 mile round trip) and others were from a long way off. You're gonna get that whatever part of the country you do something like this in.... Originally, we were gonna use a unit in Ipswich weren't we? The only reason the van was built in Sheffield was because Tony helped us out, otherwise it wouldn't have been built at all....!
Everyone involved put in maximum effort to get the van to where it is now, and a few of the people who live a reasonable distance away are gonna make sure it's finiushed for TransitMania.......
Every bit of help was very much appreciated, whether it was help at the build, donations of cash or parts, or just encouragement and good wishes from forum members. Any parts or cash not used yet will still help as there is still work to do and stuff we may have to buy for the finished article, so you can be assured nothing will go to waste.
Once again, many thanks to everyone involved for making it possible.
If you want a real van.......You gotta get a Transit!!!!
