Ok I'll prob get slapped for this.... BUT...

You are not seeing the big picture here...

Who is going to buy the van we create :?:

If we go too radical it will cut down on potential buyers massively :!:

Everyone will think it looks great and it will get plenty of comments......BUT IT WONT SELL :!:

Think about it people, what company will insure it for road use :?:

How will it get an MOT :?: It wont fit in any rolling road I've ever seen :!:

If it can be MOT'd it will have to get re-plated for the axle weights :!:

Sorry but that's a no from me, the van has to be practical and useable, style it as much as you want but Fred Bloggs has to be able to use it on a daily basis or he won't buy it.

i know what your saying but i think it will sell - plenty of campers have tag axles and you can get insurance from specialist brokers who'd cover it :D and look at the hiace on ebay that started it all - he wanted £12k ok it didnt sell but there was the high top camper on ebay that sold as a 3 axle 6 wheeler :D
look at mini artics etc. they sell - also sixwheel phi's got a 3 axle van thats got mot insurance etc.

and ok it wouldnt appeal to the masses but we'd be building a practical show van that could be on the curcuit for years to come - all down to us 8) if we were doing it purely for the money we'd be better of doing it as standard but doing this we might be able to attract more sponsers tv interest etc. and make more money in the end :!:

I think we should keep it as a forum asset. For shows 8).

We could keep it at my house because I've got a shotgun and can keep an eye on it

Ok so are we gona cut n shut the chassis n body AND get it all prepped and painted in a weekend?

That sort of thing takes months to perfect not days, the last thing we need is a bodge job.

If you think it doable Luke then now is the time to draw up plans.

i think the hardest bit will be finishing the bodywork between the join of the 2 vans :? thats the bit we need some serious skilled men (or women  ) on 8) - done wrong or bodged it'd spoil it :(

thats one big panel to get right with no ripples  the best way would be ..if poss to seperate factory joints and extend it that way?? if we had,,lets say a spare extra lwb van we cut cut the extra 18 inch out of it and use that on the back of the project van,,,if you see what i mean?
