yep - it's a BW45

so is that the better one

other engine news - ive just pulled the plugs - they all look good and the engine turns over (socket on the crank) nice and easy

the dizzy is totally wrecked, shafts slightly bent and the case is cracked so we need one of those - so any ideas what we need (years/models)

rope seals on what?? the rocker gaskets are cork

actually it's not it's a BW35 - i was reading it wrong the 45 is stamped on and it's actually a 43

still cant find the compression ratio tho

"Rope seals" might mean the outer crankcase seals.

On older vehicles/classics these were made of a cloth material and if you parked the car up for any time (2-3 months) you would still have to rotate the crank every now and then to lubricate the seals because if they dried out they would knacker up.

also i'll have a look for my compression tester then do a compression test on it should give us a good idea of how good it is
