i think the stright across wheel arch (top pic) looks fine but i prefer the double hole style like the conversion leaflet - harder to do but looks neater 8)

looking at this today at the pre meet - we think if we can get 4 of these repair panels (so far we have 1 donated) then it would be easier to make the arch with the bit sticking down in the middle :D

Image

this is me holding the repair panel in the place it would be - and the front line of the repair panel is where the cut and join will be up the side of the van :D

basically you wouldnt have to make up a straight part of the lip and weld it it you could just cut off the repair panel at a set distance and finish there - the joint would need filling but we'll have that problem all the way down the van anyway

the distance between the 2 rear wheels we've decided to make 750mm

flip the lh one round and pair it with a rh one luke...

its got to be the easiest way to do it. that way you havent got to do any cutting and shaping at the arch only a straight cut at the seam line to the mid panel, then everything else follows....

i dont think you could flip them easly as i dont think its a perfect semi circle :D

if we got 4 (2 of either side) then we'll be ok anyway :D

we wouldnt be able to have the centre part coming all the way down anyway - if you look at that one where it overlaps the tyre that bit will need to be cut away :D

i mean join the edge seam that meets the mid panel on one arch to the same edge seam on another panel for the other side of the van, like this!

you've only got to trim it in to the mid panel seam then, its a straight cut, easy :!:

this way gives you all sorts of fixed points and known dimensions to work from, new van length, axle spacing, prop length, chassis extension length etc etc. this means you can do a lot of pre- weekend prep work so you wont be engineering so much on the day, you can have lots prefab'd before you start :!:

yep if you want trim it back, but if you just tub the inner arch for both wheels as one you could leave it there, join it on the return lip behind, it wont interfere with the wheels...
