Personally I wouldn't take part in it if we give the money to 'help for heroes' as I am a strong anti militarist campaigner. They choose to go to war and I don't feel that they are heroes in the slightest.

I am keen that the money raised goes to a small charity and also agree that it should be people related, children sounds grand to me. Maybe we can choose a charity someone has personal links with so we can feel confident we know where that money is going.

I still think we have a problem with the high wages that some of these charities pay to directors, I'm not worried about the front line staff. I'd like to think all the money stayed in the UK. No animals, buildings, parks, rehabs, gay, offenders, namby pamby crap...

This is going to be a difficult choice. My personal experience is that it is often the smaller, local charities that are the most helpful and supportive, almost all the charities that help with terminally ill children are local, down here we have the Childrens Hospice South West who have built and run 2 amazing hospices and are now building a 3rd down in Cornwall. But, as pointed out earlier, a nationwide charity would be preferable as the FTF is a nationwide group. The inherent problem though with the big charities is that they have large administrations that cost a lot of money. It would be a bit disheartening to see every penny donated by the project absorbed by a stationary budget for example...
An alternative is to liaise with somewhere well known, e.g. Great Ormond Street and see if there is a piece of kit that they really need and try to meet the cost of purchasing that, then there is something solid and real that can be attributed to the FTF project.
Anyway, thats my 2 pennorths :)

Yes not a bad idea, children from all over the country go there, so it will be a national affect. I had to work in there repairing X-Ray equipment and I don't mind telling you, made me well-up

OK we need to get this sorted ASAP :!: :!: - i've been sending a few scrounging emails out asking for donating parts etc. and people always ask which charity (charity number) and as we dont have one yet it kind of looks a bit dodgy :(

what we need is a volenteer to take charge of this part of the project sort us out a charity run it by everyone, we can use the voting/poll on here if we need to and then thats it - and it could do with being finalised in the next month :D

this is a summary of suggestions posted in this thread

MONSTER 0NE wrote:how about the Joshua foundation ? this charity gives children with terminal illnesses there last wishes.

so anyone care to volenteer job of "charity organiser" :?: you will need to draw up a list of charitys get feedback from members answer questions etc. you'd also need to get in contact with the chosen charity explain to them the project and find out what they would do with the money - post that pack here to show everyone where its going :D
