As we progress with the design i'll update this thread with the final ideas on each area of the van and how it should look when done 8)

the thread is locked for replys to make it easy for people to see all the ideas next to each other as they unfold rather than having to wade though pages of chat - if you wish to talk about some of the ideas reply to the relevent thread in this section :D

The basic body design - we will be converting the van to a 3 axle 6 wheeler by adding an extra axle behind the van and extending the body, the existing (front) back axle will remain in the same place and transmit all the drive (ie the van will still be 2wd) this way it wont add any significant extra stress on the chassis rails. the front of the van will keep the standard steering/suspention etc

The Wheels - the wheels we are using (kindly donated by Andy Kay) are KN Vantec 2 they are 16" Alloys with 225/65x16C tyres :D

Unfortunalty we only have 4 so if you know of 2 more (even damged ones that we could repair) or 2 legal tyres - let us know :D

and here's what they will look like on the van 8)

The Engine - So far the plans are to use this 3.5 Rover V8 complete with its autobox. The team installing the engine will be run by Kev, aptly named Rover on the forum. Rover V8's have been fitted in transits before with good results, and no mods are needed to the engine bay, this said it's still going to be a task to get it all done in the weekend.

here's a picture of the engine as it was donated - we still need to check it over before the weekend work starts
