here it is :D the Rover V8 & auto box kindly donated to us 8) and thanks to andyj for collecting dropping it off it :D

Image

it was a running engine before it went into storage, but as its been in storage its took a knock and the rocker cover and distributer are damaged, it's also missing a water pump, altenator and one of the plungers of the SU carb is gone :(

So if you have any Rover V8 bits in your shed please dig them out for us :D

Image

i'll see if i can knock up a frame and get it running before we fit it :D

What exhaust manifolds will be the best for the fitting of a V8 in a Transit?

Will it be ones from a Range Rover P38 or from a car, like a SD1?

Perhaps I should start asking these questions to the people that have already done the V8-Transit mod.

Not too sure about standard cast iron ones tho either... dont really want to work with those.
Would much prefer a set of steel tubular ones so I can cut, modify and re-weld.

I think the last versions of the V8 Disco, ect used standard tubular ones for better breathing. They would be the cheapest type on Ebay?

Stainless steel manifolds would be great for me to re-work but I'm guessing they would cost a fair bit as people are still using the Rover VB's. Would be nice tho.... .....

I`ve got loads of guys around me with land rover V8`s of all models fitted. There`s also a 4x4 fitter,Gumtree Enterprises close that they work for.If we need any extras I`m sure that I can get hold of them.

That engine looks P5/6 as it has rounded rocker covers unlike the flat top SD1 ones in the engine bay pic :) The mechanical fuel pump too  IMO (disclaimer)
