Issues getting 2nd donor to build site.

Postby MinorMatt » Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:11 am

Guys

I have been speaking to mealic, and we have been trying to work out how to get the 2nd donor to the build site. Obviously if we can't get this van to the site then there is no point even starting the job.

Basically his van doesn't have a suitable train weight to tow it up, my van has just had an unproved engine swap and I don't have the liscence to do it.

Its a SWB 150, so will weigh around 1700kg

We ideally need a 150/190/330/350 to tow it up

Can anyone help? We could prehaps arrange a relay? Does anyone have a beavertail/trailer and would be willing to take it up? At the moment we are stuck!

The van is near Lewes in Sussex

That`s sounding good Muttley. Was really loking forward to it all and raising monies towards a worthwhile charity but am really getting despondant about the whole Build Off now.A guy was supposed to be taking the engine and box from me to make it lighter to be able to tow on an A frame but despite many attempts he has let me down...........again and again!!
If we could get it from mine to maybe Oxford and then on to Nottingham `ish and to Sheffield or I expect Luke would collect from there.(Let`s leave it all to Luke)  Sorry Luke.

How about Guy88,do you know someone that could help us from your area Guy?

Come on fella`s the Build Off depends on this.

No extra news yet Luke. Thanks to Muttley we can get the van some of the way, perhaps as far as the M1 or maybe further depending on a link-up.Many have read the thread and most have had no input or are unable to offer any help. The person that was taking the engine and box out has let me down again and again but I am still trying.I was going to travel up Wednesday evening as my daughter lives in West Yorkshire and `er indoors is going to stay with her and our grand-daughter.The van would have to go between now and wednesday................bit of a tall order but I am not giving up.I have donations for materials ,so I really want this to happen.

Think we will have to keep "bumping" the thread though.

I would go as far as I could but I have to be bear fuel in mind. I can afford to get the van to the southern end of the M1, I could go further if we could get some diesel money together as the old Cargo only does about 25 mpg :(

Hi Muttley, what would your charge be for picking the van up at BN7 and dropping it the rest of the way at the build site.I suppose that it is about 150 miles from South Mimms to Sheffield. You would need to pick up from me on Wednesday anytime.

Hello again Muttley,
Speaking with Luke and Matt at the weekend we will happily pay for your diesel to get the van to Ecclesfield for Thursday.
