yea, it's quite stupid that they won't sell that 3.2L I5 Diesel Automatic in Europe even nowadays this new Transit is the same car produced worldwide!

Blue estate, 11 05 14, is that an argument pro or con automatic??
If in America you don't produce autotrans in vans, you're gonna sell 95% less vans. Unthinkable.
It's a cultural thing..it seems : the more 'developed' the country, the more taste for autotransmission. America:quasi standard. Europe : Switzerland, Germany,Scandinavia : much more current than our deep southern 'Latin' fellowEurarians. Present an autobox to a Bulgarian or a Georgian, he will bolt away over the hills screaming with fright...Which brings it all back to the long-term economical aspect of course.

Yet it seems shortsighted by Ford not to participate in this market : meanwhile Mercedes sells its autoSprinters by the 10s of 1000s in Europe....

Acording to the dealer when we picked our van up, auto could be coming next year, the new connects have auto as an option, and im sure he said the custom would have auto option when face lift version is launched early next year.

.
The 2.7 liter ecoboost would pair nicely with an auto on the transit.

10 speed auto coming out next year, soon to be on all auto models, maybe they are waiting for that?

Turkey factory has to be able to support it, they might need investment to handle it.

Shame ford is leaving money on the table.

Only reason to consider Sprinter is auto and gas.

Just got my new 2016 Transit with manual gearbox and my local dealer said that automatic gearbox production should start eof summer 2016, but it may be delayed because of Euro6 engine.

Now its official for the big Transit.

New 2.0 diesel with 170hp.

Also 6-speed automatic late 2016.

For the Transit and Transit Custom models, the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue engine is offered in 105 PS, 130 PS and 170 PS power ratings, each of which offers increased power and torque compared to the outgoing 2.2-litre engine. Improved low-end pulling power – with 20 per cent more torque at 1,250 rpm – delivers more flexible and responsive performance in everyday driving.

For improved comfort and convenience in urban driving, customers of Transit front-wheel drive derivatives and Transit Custom models will be able to specify a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission from late 2016. The transmission offers smooth, responsive and efficient performance in partnership with the Ford EcoBlue diesel, including Auto-Start-Stop where fitted, and also provides the option of manual shifting using buttons mounted on the gear lever.

Shame it's only available with FWD, I definitely want my next van to be an auto, but do far too much towing to consider FWD. Oh well, bye bye Ford.
