Electrical connection for reversing camera

Postby Billysven » Mon Sep 27, 2021 8:31 am

Hi all

I want to install a reversing camera in my Mk8 2015.

What is the best option for a 12v supply to the screen. I want to mount it on the rear view mirror but don’t want wires running surface to cigarette lighter? I’m happy to run the wire anywhere just unsure about the fuse box etc.

I’m handy enough but vehicle electrics baffle me!

Thanks in advance

On my Mk7, I've tucked the wire under the headlining, along and down the passenger screen pillar trim, under the dash to a socket on a lead, which is plugged in to the cig lighter socket.
Dash cam is wired the same way :)

In front of your knees when driving is a fuse panel, grip the plastic panel with the OBD port on it at the bottom and tug sharply, fuse box is revealed.
Locate a fuse that is a switched live (fuse diagram in your manual) and get yourself a fuse tap adapter (amazon).

Get the right size.

connect your camera to the jumper and run the cable up the drivers side A pillar cover, just poke it inside no need to remove it and then across to your screen...
