DPF soot level s

Postby dumper » Tue Oct 05, 2021 1:11 pm

Hi all I had my van DPF forced registration by Ford in Ireland while on holiday I have had it checked with a snapon diagnosis tablet and now after 500 miles it showing 31% I’ve seen on here that they can be over 100% and still run ok my question is what is the normal soot level and at what level will it regenerate when driving because my van had a 80% cold running message come up on the dash when I got it with only 7000 kilometres on the clock I m thinking that if this is not normal it my need taking off and professionally cleaning thanks.

31% is fine.
I've seen 160% (during a fault) on my van and I've seen 200% mentioned in threads.

Thanks lads Reckless has you van had dash update that tells you drive to clean.
Kev yes I’d seen your posts about the % s but I was wondering what is the normal when running well the big confusion is that 100% is not blocked and they come up with higher then a 100% thanks

I’d say 10 miles ish of motorway speeds, Maybe more. I do a lot of town work so the van don’t always get a good run and I must have had this come up 10 ish times but now on 19k
The first time it happened was after 7 weeks ish from new which would have only had 1-2k on the van at the time

Thanks mine is mostly 30 miles minimum driving the only time it gets a short run is if I fill it up the night before or a short run at a rally getting into location then it will be 20 minutes slow running.

Hi...I have a MK8 trend L3 H3 2.2 2015yr 100,000 miles on clock....and have never had a message on dash for a regen so is this turned off??...Ive never noticed any power changes while driving doing a auto regen and have done 15,000 miles in it....a few weeks ago the engine Management light came on and drove in a reduced power/not too bad off a limp mode until I could get it checked.. ive had a mechanic do a diag test....basicly particulate soot problem...he did a forced regen and it blocked the CAT and when I test drove it the limp mode was far worse/eng man light still On...he cleaned the CAT and now NO Eng man light on the dash but still on limp mode with a prompt on diag meter with a High temp sensor fault. So worried to drive it now as not good on hills and might block the filter again possibly with use if not operating properly.
Can anyone shed any light on how that sensor works or which sensor it is on exhaust /CAT to replace. any ideas?? TIA
