Mk8 2.2 RWD 155 Correct Engine Oil

Postby andilicious » Tue Jun 28, 2022 8:20 pm

Hi all

I have just collected all my bits and bobs for oil and filter service planned this weekend.

I have picked Shell Ultra Helix 5w-30 that says ford on the front.

I have just been informed that I should be using Castrol.

Can someone confirm and if correct link to the correct oil on ECP website?

Thanks

Andy

The brand is not important. Shell, Mobil etc all have a suitable oil that is correct for your van and that will be just dandy. Just make sure you change it at no more than 10,000 miles......

That’s what I thought. But the seed of doubt was planted.

I’ll do my oil change annually and that is usually between 2000 - 5000 miles so I’ll be ok in that respect.

So I’ve had a look and the Castrol Magnatec start / stop is recommended and 42p more than the Shell Helix Ultra so I think I will swap it just for my own sanity!
