Crank Shaft Pulley

Postby Sparkypenguin » Sat Apr 12, 2025 5:03 pm

Hi all,

I'm hoping for a little advice as my crank shaft pulley has deteriorated and basically fell off my van along with a metal band.
Does anyone know what this band is?

Also can anyone tell me what the wheel is behind the crank shaft pulley.
This photos shows what's remaining of the crank shaft pulley with the wheel behind it.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Mark.

Your pulley is a 2 part one with a rubber centre , that’s only part of the pulley
You’ll need a new pulley ,
ŠKODA Enyaq full leather and heated steering wheel

Thanks for the help but unfortunately I'm still not sure as I've looked on line for a Crankshaft Pulley for my model which is a 2.2TDCi 2014 V362 and it appears to only be the single pulley, i.e. the one with the 2 different diameter ridges, it does not include the other parts.

I've now removed the 3 bolts and the rest of the pulley and I now have these 4 parts:-

Bolts - Do these need to be replaced if they look OK?
Metal Band - Still do not know what this is?
Crankshaft pulley with 2 lots of ridges for the 2 belts at different diameters of mm and mm.
The other wheel with a smooth outer (although looks quite rough now as I think the metal band has been rubbing against it for some time) - Still do not know what this is?

This is what the engine interface oil seal now looks like.
20250413_104426.jpg

I can see no evidence of any leaks so I am assuming that the oil seal is OK.

If anyone tell me what these parts are, and ideall the part numbers or a link to a diagram with details I would be very grateful.

Update..

I now believe that the smooth wheel, metal band and ridged wheel actually started out as 1 part rather than 3 separate parts.
Hence 1 part number which I think is BK2Q-6B319-BA.
I've also decided to replace the bolts as they were very hard to remove and I think the torque setting will be very high so not worth risking one snapping.

For part numbers this is as near as i can get you to it ..as there are several configurations ..AIR CON ETC

note several mentions on this link about 2006 - 2014 ...don't know why, because this link is in the mk8. section

https://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l ... MwNQ%3D%3D

for part number - we usually go off the 7 digit ..numbers only

I've now ordered:-
Crankshaft Pulley.
Belt kit (2 belts, belt tensioner, 3 guide wheels).
Water pump.
Overrunning Alternator Pulley.
As you may have gathered I'm not a mechanic but I do try and do most of the work myself so I do have most of the basic tools, however I'm wondering if I will need any special tools to do this work and is there anywhere I can see what tools and what torques I need to apply?

The tools required are stated in the manual before each designated job it describes.

Good luck with looking through the manual and finding this job amongst 3145 pages of it . !

But.. if you go by what ford lists, they list every spanner as a special tool... so not practical to follow that .

You need to be able to lock the engine as you do the bolts up ..many mechs don't do this they use an impact gun to put the bolts in... then you don't need to lock it.
You - by what ever means possible ..without damaging something ..strap wrench etc

Now, I haven't done this job ..I don't even own a 2.2!
but i imagine you need to use the ratchet - 1/2 inch drive without a socket on it to move the tensioner to get the belt on (you're using the square drive of the ratchet inserted into the tensioner)

See the square hole ( if ive picked the right one )

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/fXEAAOSw ... l1600.webp

...If it has AC you need tools to get the stretch belt on ..but there are ways and means of doing that without specialist tools - described here mainly in the mk6 / 7 forum.... most of the tools ford lists are about speeding the job up for ford technician ..

You still haven't mentioned FWD or RWD, so cant steer you to the correct video.

Here's RWD it maybe a mk6 mk7, if its front wheel drive its totally different.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrFEfqnm0Ow

There are plenty more.

If I specifically went looking for mk8, I would have less choice, as youtubers just describe them as transits ..it's up to you to watch as many of these as possible ..,.as it's easier than me trying to describe it with words typed in .

Google ---- step by step transit 2.2 bottom pulley

Then press on videos.
Most answers to "how to" found in the mk6 / 7 forum here .

Hi again,

I've managed to replace several of the bits but now I'm a bit stuck and sorry if this is a stupid question but where do I get the manual for my van?
Is it available free anywhere?
Haynes do not do one yet but I can buy from a place called easymanuals but unsure if they are a reputable company.
https://easymanuals.co.uk/product/ford- ... 2012-2023/

And just to confirm my van is a Ford Transit Custom MK8 FWD 2.2TDCi (74 kW / 100 hp) with aircon and a timing chain.

i left a link to the manual in a post above, which is why i refer to it at post 7

a moderator has deleted it ,

if i post a manual you have to download immediately

i think the mods doing it for good reasons.
maybe copywrite or people just joining to get the manuals then selling them on ebay

from now on i have to be personally contracted ..and will only give one out to long standing members or people with over 50 posts

OK, thanks for letting me know and I totally understand regards only giving out to long standing members.
I've check with easymanuals and they have confirmed the manual they have is suitable for my van so I'll just buy that.
It's only £14.998 and will no doubt pay for itself many times over.
Have a great day.
