Pure guess work this ...as the parts diagrams do not show the rack in relation to the bodywork

i think its spraying the leak somewhere in the vicinity of where the column joins onto it ..and the oil is coming through as a small stream through the aperture the column passes through in the bulkhead

what you have to do ...is put it over ramp, over pit or on axle stands ...clean the spilt oil with a solvent ...paraffin jizzer ..diesel, or cans of brake cleaner etc

Then get someone to turn the steering with engine running, so that you can find observe where the oil is leaking from .

May be a pipe union that needs tightening

it may be a seal

you will not find out until you've performed the above ..

ive searched on ebay ..and cannot find ..seals , overhaul kit or anything approaching a maintenance item other than boot gators or track rods, so any leak that isnt coming from a pipe ....it will be a new rack.

if by shear chance that its same rack as mk6 or 7 ..there are seal kits for them

BTW - if it is power steering fluid it will be red .

this part fits last from column to rack

no clear explanation as to, if it does seal the fluid in or if it is just a dust shield, from searches done

and there are five versions of it

and i don't know what year electric power steering was fitted to them .. if so .....you're onto something else that i don't know about

Its possible that the newer ones may have CHF for power steering - in which case it would be green!

I don't know if Ford are using it in the newer transits but its becoming more common across the board as it works better at temperature extremes
