Multiple electrical issues with 2020 MK8 Ford Transit

Postby michaelnovick » Mon Jul 06, 2026 6:53 pm

Hello,
My 2020 passenger van has suddenly developed several electrical issues.

The first is a faulty side step door sensor. The side step itself still works, but the system reports that the sensor is faulty. Because of this, the van will now drive even when the side door is open, instead of preventing movement or shutting off as it normally would.

The second issue is with the engine restart function. It's a manual transmission, and when I stall the engine, it no longer restarts automatically. I now have to restart it manually every time.

Has anyone experienced these issues or have any idea what could be causing them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My experience of the stop-start system is that it only re-starts when the engine stops itself. Stalling it manually requires a manual re-start.
