Build dates

Postby joiner12007 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 9:17 pm

Hi all,

My colleague and myself ordered our two Mk8's on the 15/11/14, we were given a build date of mid January initially. This was then knocked back by Ford a month ago.

I've spoken to the dealers today requesting an update and hopefully a build date, they have said that they can not even give me a build date yet is everybody else experiencing these issues :? .

We ordered one back at end of November for a February delivery and on road march 1st. Dealer couldn't find where van was last week and now saying 6 vans have disappeared from there system. They had some person up from down South doing something but that was all we got.

Bottom line is that the vans not Built ! How do six new vehicles just go missing when they have chassis and VIN Numbers or is it an alien force that's taken them. :D

We were told the same when we ordered our vans in Mid November that we'd take delivery second or third week of March, but as yet they still can't give us a build date 3 1/2 months on from ordering them.

I suspect that the steel elements are still iron ore in the ground and the tires and still in the rubber tree !

I have to say though that I am getting frustrated now with the extreme lack of correspondence from the dealer, I email them and get no courtesy of a reply.

Whilst some car sale people are to pushy and really annoy you as soon as you walk into the dealership, our mans so laid back he's horizontal.

This problem is happening worlwide, here in malta vans and minibuses are taking 7+ months from order to delivery. Last i heard from someone is that there has been a great number of order's (10000's) worldwide and the factory in turkey cant keep up.

I ordered a LWB 155ps fwd from Marshalls in Cambridge six weeks ago on the promise I would get the van in April. The dealer did not keep me up to date on the build date or the expected delivery, so after a lot of hassle I canceled and put an order in for a new Sprinter. The same day I put the order into the Mercedes dealership the salesman sent me a copy of the build date and delivery date from Mercedes, The Sprinter arrives to the dealership on the 15th April.I have always had Vws and Mercs but thought I would give Ford a go,I have learnt my lesson, Ford dealers are rubbish!!!!

When i was replacing my mk7 Ford gave me a "possible" date of Dec if ordered in july. Mercedes gave me a definate December date, but came up with a Ex demonstrator to the exact spec that day :D

:| Build dates... I ordered my Transit 250 long wheelbase high roof in October,2014 ( built at the Kansas City Ford Truck Plant ) and it took 4 months to make, 1 month to transport to Benicia, California ( I live in Concord, Ca. ) and then 1 week to PD and then I could accept delivery. One month in my salesman called and said that Ford ran out of Pueblo Gold and to pick another color quickly or the order would be cancelled ! so I picked Lunar Gray. I didn't want a dark color but it looks pretty nice. Has the Ecoboost V-6, a 3.20 rear end and loaded or empty accelerates incredibly for a vehicle that weighs 5200 lbs. empty!
