MK8 TRANSIT RADIO DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS.

Postby CMBDAVE » Mon Jul 13, 2015 4:25 pm

Hi

Having just taken delivery of my new 155ps TRANSIT pick up I have to say that all is going well apart from the problem of the very dim display on the DAB radio,it's so dim that it's nearly impossible to read any information that is displayed.
Is there a way to turn the brightness up.

Any help or info regarding the above would really be appreciated .

In mine i can adjust the brightness from the headlamps switch, the two buttons that adjust the dash binnacle brightness.

The switch in my Transit is different and has no adjustment for the brightness on the dash, this problem has been mentioned to my Ford dealer and he said it is just the way it is and i would just have to get used to it but the problem is that when the phone rings and the blue tooth kicks in showing the callers name on the display you can not read it,a small problem but very annoying.

Yeah, if the van does not have this 'control' built-in, then the display goes very dim once you shoot up the headlights.
Like Ford forgot to balance things out, and just set some power value for the backlight.
If more power is used for other stuff, then the backlight just gets less brightness.

Lamest thing about this is that the switch is not included by default in the Trend package.

If you can't read the information that is displayed then the product is not fit for purpose. As for the dealer saying you'll just have to live with it, no you don't. If you're squinting to read what is on there then this is going to be a safety issue. Tell him to sort it or you'll get in touch with trading standards. This small problem will drive you nuts which just isn't acceptable seeing as you must have spent £££££££££££££££££££££ on a new van.
