2015 Transit 350 Trend Windscreen replacement

Postby kja2002 » Thu Oct 01, 2015 4:26 pm

i have an issue with my works transit 350 trend lwb windscreen. it is heated, rain sensor etc.

it has a crack which means windscreen replacement and i am being told by various national replacement companies that i can only replace with one with the sensors otherwise it will affect the vehicle computer. this will mean in excess of £800!

Can i replace with a basic heated only windscreen? Are they trying it on with me?

HELP!

If it's a heated one, it will have a sensor for the auto lights and wipers. That part is true, not having the sensor fitted, may effect the vans body control module, cause some probs.

But don't you have windscreen cover though your insurance?

There is insurance but it is a fleet vehicle which is one of 20 or so and we do our best to avoid claiming as we end up with a lot of windscreen replacements in a year. Avoiding premium hikes.

I have a quote for just heated which is acceptance financially but I don't want to change it and a week later have issues with the vehicle because it doesn't have the sensors connected.

One independent company told me that they couldn't change it to a lesser windscreen and would only quote me the heated and sensor one at £800+

Bit of a rock and a hard place situation at the moment.

I cant see why its that expensive......the sensors just stick on to a clear area on the windscreen its not like they are integrated into the screen.

It only costs me £250 to get the windscreen replaced on my mk7 limited.

Have you been back directly to Ford?
