new van .. do you REALLY need to fit extra locks

Postby citrus » Tue Jun 07, 2016 4:47 am

so getting a new van and being suggested that I pay extra for a slam lock for the side door and perhaps an extra deadlock for the rear doors.

anyone else done this and think it was worth it ?

i am NOT a courier so perhaps the slamdoor for the side isn't worth it

but when I am carrying expensive mountain bikes ... I might be grateful for the extra dead lock on the rear.

what say you forum experts ............... ??

It's always worth adding security to your van regardless, the type and cost of it is the question tho.

There are actually some simple and cheap methods of securing your van so have a look and weigh up the cost of different methods.

Also consider that the upgrades when you are buying the van may not be the same price if you decide you want them after you have it.

In london so might just do it

here is what the dealer says

"By double pressing the lock remote it dead locks the doors as standard .

But if you still want to fit slam locks £95 a door (load doors only)"

my question is the standard deadlock ...was hoping Ford would have sorted out the deadlocks and as standard in a MK8 they would be really good by now...

so adding an additional 2nd deadlock to the rear door ...is this overkill ?

Check out YouTube, with a bit of knowledge they can unlock your van and disable the alarm before it goes off, less than 14 seconds and all doors are unlocked and alarm disabled.
Will try and find the link

Link to alarm being disabled via OBD, in this case they are after the car, for vans without push button start, they have gained access to your cargo.
