Hi jay the clip was tight when I got home I booked it in for a intermediate service just in case I had anymore problems before it ran out of warranty . they had a look at it but made nothing of it just before I came back to Ireland last week I checked the tightness and it nipped up a bit but last night it blow off again I put it back on to get to where I am stopping and this morning I rang the ford dealerships both side of the border but none were really bothered and could not look at it till next week and then it woud be out of warranty and I’d have to pay as it didn’t matter that I’d reported it for it to go on the system they’d have to see it and check it. the registration date of the van is 03/09/2015 but they told me today was actually the day it ran out .with the service you get breakdown cover I rang ford assisted they sent out the AA all he did was take it off and refit it as he was doing it ford assisted rang and said if it gives me anymore problems to call them again .
I will have to wait till I get home and see if I can get it sorted properly pipes don’t pop off for nothing when it was in imperial ford at Scunthorpe they thought the pipe was split when I booked it in but that was another mk8 van so their must be some problem with the turbo pipe have you got problems with yours cheers

I've got a MK7 2.2 Euro 5 fella so not the exact same van and yeah pipes shouldn't just pop off, but my intercooler pipe on the driver side had issues for ages and it was mainly down to it splitting. Common fault apparently. Yours isn't split and it just popped off, that's why I was wondering whether the jubilee clip holding the pipe to the intercooler was loose.

Perhaps check the intercooler and see if the round part of it where the pipe connects to it is cracked... no idea why it would just pop off like that... perhaps your intake manifold is clogged up and it's making too much boost pressure build up in that area causing the pipe to spas out... Check the condition of the jubilee clip...

Mate the van is barely just out of warranty, if it even is, ,maybe call another dealer still and demand for it to be looked at under warranty. If it was registered 03/09/2015, do you not still have a few days before it runs out? If it comes with a 3 year warranty, then should it not still be under warranty?

I'm sure I've read somewhere that people have had warranty work a month after the warranty has ran out. Am I wrong?

Also I'm sure that if you have reported it even on the day the warranty runs out, and the dealership only has time time look at it next week, that's on them. DOES IT MATTER? DO YOU HAVE TO PAY? Legally the fault has occurred during the warranty period and you have reported it... Call up tomorrow and demand for it to be looked at under warranty.

On the day the warranty ran out and you called the dealers and they said they could only look at it next week; you should have immediately called your local dealer and booked it in for anytime even a month later as I'm 100% that they need to fix it if you have booked it in for warranty work even on the day it runs out.

Fully agree jay will see how it goes and take it up with Ford when I get home it has to go into local dealer when I get home for a 3.7 diff change from a 3.1 if they have got the parts in I only got Ford to send the AA out to get it on the system if it pops off again while I’m hear I will put it back on myself to get to where I may be fishing or stopping for the night it took the AA two and a half hours to get to me this time so don’t whant to hang about again cheers p/s it’s only done 15000 mls

Had same problem with mine.
Started playing up at around 30k miles.
There is a recall if I remember rightly for over boosting and a change of pipe is needed.
Anyway mines had the upgrade, but still does it. I’ve put it down to a sh*t design. Not enough lip on the inter cooler. What I find works is to give the pipe and the inter cooler end a good clean and dry. Then put everything back together, but use a 7 mm ratched and make dupe it good and tight. If you do it up with a screwdriver I can guarantee you it will come of again.
I alway carry a spare jubilee clip in the glovebox now aswell.
Hope this helps

P.s may be worth looking at some silicone hoses.

Cheers kevcon I didn’t no about a recall will look into that when I get home both times mines done it I was going slow not under hard acceleration and the last time I was going over a sleeping policeman so really slow speed when I’ve put it on I have used a ratchet ring spanner so got it tight when I get home I will get a high torque clip from local hydraulic pipe surplyer so I can get it really tight I may see if I can double clip it before I drive home but I’ve left it as it was removed and refitted by the AA to see if it will blow off if it does it will give me more ammunition to fire at ford when I get home and yes silicone hose is what I’ll look for if I have to buy one thanks for reply
