Pads low warning message

Postby KevofCov » Tue Mar 05, 2019 7:12 pm

I cannot remove the brake pad low warning message and its yellow triangle. The fault code will not clear and the pads are all new. I’ve searched and there appears to be an issue with the loom on the MK7 – does anybody know which way around the loop goes on a MK8?

– Mk7 is
speedo pin 15 to
Rear Left Hand
Rear Right Hand
Front Left Hand
Front Right Hand
Ground point 31

many thanks

is it not just a bad connection somewhere ?
my mk7 and the custom both had a bad connection on the plug that the pad sensor plugs in to

If you short each one the light should go off
Both of mine had a broken wire on the van side of the connector
Had to strip the wire a tad bit to find it

An update –

Mk8 brake pad wear circuit is the same as Mk7.

The circuit starts at the NSR axle with the white wire from the module. It goes throught the brake pad and returns to the yellow wire. From here it goes to the OSR side, changing to white on the way (in the connector on above the prop). It leaves the OSR as a yellow wire appearing at the NSF pad as a white wire. It leaves the NSF as a yellow wire and arrives at the OSF as a white wire. From here it completes the circuit to the module as a yellow wire.
Any break in the circuit or shorting to ground through contact with a brake disc with produce a message which will not reset until the problem is solved.

Yep. The new connectors on the new non ford pads looked and felt like they fitted well however this was a lie. A bit of felting on the plastic connector and the problem went away :D

Anyone know the position of the module and pin numbers to eliminate this problem forever?
Would rather link at source to eliminate the rest of the wiring.

U could possibly just short the wires at the beginning, eliminating the whole loop ;)

I'm pretty sure the previous owner did that at my MK7.5
The brake pad warning light won't come on no matter what...

That is exactly what I would like to do.
I assume these wires go to ABS module so should be 2 white ones visible?

On the mark 7 they just go to the speedo like the handbrake warning does, open circuit brings the lamp on

Just been under my mk 8 and the wiring at rear axle has no white wires from front of van.
NS and OS have seperate connections in the multi plug to different colours than above
I have blue/green to white and orange /grey to yellow as a pair and other orange /grey to white and brown/blue to yellow so still a mystery where to short out to eliminate sensor pad warning
