Anyone tried siphoning fuel out?

Postby wvc » Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:55 pm

I tried searching but to no avail. Anyone succeeded in siphoning fuel out of an MK8? There might be an anti siphoning valve?

I need to drop the tank but I'd rather do it when it's empty...

Just run it low if you are dropping the tank to fit night heater just lower it down on a jack and un clip the pipe work from the body it will come down far enough to fit the pipe for the heater also I don’t think it’s right to post on here how to get fuel out you never know who may use it for the wrong reason

The tank is almost full and it's illegal to drive the van at the moment, since it's not registered, insured or any of that, so I'd prefer an alternative...

The only time I've done this on a modern vehicle with an anti-syphon filler, I connected an electric pump with plastic hoses, to the outlet pipe on the fuel filter. Then I just pumped it through to a few jerry cans. You'll need a goodly few if you have 80 litres of fuel in the tank.

You just need a cheap 12v pump with round inlet and outlet pipes, a few feet of plastic tubing, and fly leads to connect to a battery

Eventually succeeded in bypassing the anti-siphon through the filler with a hose and proceeded to pump the fuel out through there.
