12v reverse light feed?

hi all

ive been looking everywhere to try and find out the colour of the 12v feed for the reverse light. im installing a reverse camera and want it to come on when reverse is engaged. the installation seems easy enough providing i know the color of the feed. ive unplugged the loom from the cluster, this shows 6 cables that feed into a connector which then plugs into the cluster block (see attatchment) but cant find anywhere to say which is the 12v live feed. i dont have a multimeter at the moment so cant test.
any ideas?

thanks

Good excuse to buy a multimeter then ;-)

Then easy to check which wire powers up when reverse is engaged :-)

Of course, if you really don't want to buy a multimeter, you could always use a 12 V bulb - borrow the reversing light one - and make a temporary 'live wire indicator' :D

yeah im with you.. was just hoping someone knew the colour, rather than taking the cluster out etc.. i just disconnected each cable until i found the reverse light failed to come on, then tapped into that. seems to have done the job anyway,

for anyone reading this, the 12v live feed is the green/brown cable.. i couldnt find this anywhere on the internet and nowhere on this forum.

cheers

Just to second this thread, it is the Green/Brown wire. Removing the lamp cluster first was a struggle. Remove the two screws and with your finger tips under the bottom edge, pull like stink. . .

I chose a combined 4 inch reversing/dashcam by IIWEY. Works really well, with a very nice HD 1080P, IPS screen.

Hi, thanks for the info on the wire coding. That's useful.

I fitted a wifi reversing camera (AUTO-VOX TD-2) to my Custom as I am useless at parking. I connected it to the number plate lamp, only because it's right there above the camera unit and also it allows me to have rear view at any time. Only slight problem is, the number plate is offset because of the split rear doors, so the camera and hence the superimposed guidelines are not central.

I fitted the following one from Amazon, very easy fit, it is a dashcam and reverse camera combined, I have it set up to display the reverse image all the time like a rear view mirror, so didn't need to connect it to the reverse light circuit.

The fuse or rather BCM pin location depends on the year of your van. Search online for the BEMM for your van- the Body Equipment Mounting manual. It’s an excellent publication from Ford, 200 odd pages of pure gold! If you get the right one that is!

If it's still something you're looking for:
On the 2.2l it's pin 11 on connector C02280B (centre on left hand side of BCM)
On the 2.0l it's pin 11 on connector C02280C (third from bottom on left hand side of BCM)
Green brown wire in both cases, have the wiring diagrams if you need them.

Hi Noel
If you have wiring diagrams would appreciate copies or send me a link for download. 2.2 350 Transit 2016.
Seems to be a dark art looking for fuse allocations and positions let alone colour of cables.

Assuming it's ok to post these here?

This is for the 2.2 - technically it's for the transit custom, but things are pretty transferrable as the parts are the same!
