Must have options.. dealer matching online price?.

Postby Starsky72 » Sun Sep 01, 2019 12:34 pm

I’m looking at ordering a new van.
350 L3 H2, Limited 185ps hopefully in Kapoorred..

There are so many combinations and options just wondered if there were any must haves?.

Also, has anyone had luck in getting a dealer to match an online price? There’s about 4K plus vat difference between the quoted

For me, AC,cruise, heated glass, high spec speedo and centre display with parking coloured screens with our without sat vav or dab, twin batteries, colour codes limited spec.

If you are paying the money then get it specced, if it is a shitty work van then get what will benefit you in the day.

In the process of looking for a sedan now. Arguing if I should get Subaru or still ford but in my case, our dealer is much cheaper compared online. Tried asking for the price online but then I thought that what was stated on the sites was the actual but then there's hidden fees. Plus if you would buy to your local dealer then I fell like the freebies are much more useful and at least you could really physically enter their store if you have a problem and not wait for their reply in the mail.

I'm just waiting for a price from the dealer ship on the exact same van in FWD with the following additional extras, Alarm, factory tow bar, LED Load lights, front mud flaps. Everything else in there for me in the limited spec, not fussed about Sat Nav or the DAB Radio.

Must have options for me:

Passenger airbag (not sure how any company can justify not paying £200 for it, unless they have a 'no passengers' policy)
LED load lights
Steel spare wheel
Cat 1 alarm
Air con

Well the broker is over £4k plus vat cheaper than the dealer and the dealer is simply saying they can get no where near it....

I appreciate the benefits of buying from a physical dealership should you have issues etc however you can't justify £4k for being able to speak face to face!

Looks like my order will be going in with the broker! - I'll then wait my 22 weeks!!

DAB radio is included in the limited spec. I agree about the Sat Nav though, phones/google maps are just too good these days to warrant paying out the sort of money they are asking for

22 weeks?
I'm just about to order another one from a dealer, he's saying about 8-10 weeks.

Brokers build up a number of orders to get a better discount from Ford, hence the long wait. The quickest way to get a new van is to go to a large dealer (Perrys, sadly) and ask what’s in the pipeline, as long as you’re not incredibly fussy you can often get a van in under a month.

Yeah, I am a wee bit fussy though as it's going to be my daily driver and I'll probably keep it a good while..

Plus the likes of Perry's are so much more expensive, I'd rather wait and save thousands
