speed limited

Postby gg0161 » Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:30 pm

hi I recently bought a 2016 mk8 170 ps jumbo when going on the motorway it wont go more then 73mph it feels like its limited however its still under warranty and gave it in to ford last week to do some other stuff on it and they said it does not have a limiter on it and if it did it would be 70mph not 73mph they said that it was showing a fault code of lack of fuel due to it needing new fuel filter however I have changed the fuel filter and it still refuses to go above 73mph if I use cruise control it also just stops at 73mph thanks any ideas I think ford may be mistaken and it does have a limiter also it does not have a eco button for me to turn off don't know if that has something to do with it

Do you know if the dealer checked the actual van to see if the limiter is active, or did they just check its "asbuilt" data (how it was supplied from the factory)? There was a limiter available at that speed - I had it on a Mk6 van: it's 120km/h, which equates to about 74MPH.

If they haven't checked the van itself it's possible that the previous owner had a limit set after they'd taken delivery.

If it was fuel starvation it would run out of steam at about the same revs in any gear. I'll bet the engine will rev beyond whatever it's at when you hit the limiter in top gear.
Drink moderately, eat healthily, exercise regularly, die anyway.

As above, sounds like it is limited to 120km/h.

Can be plugged in and removed.

Definitely limiter. Mine has it as well.
Thing is... If you run on long journeys, 6th gear, 1900rpm... Would dpf regenerate itself?

Might have to switch down to 5th, don't think 1900rpm even on a long run is enough...
