Dpf problems

Postby Awbuilders » Thu Oct 24, 2019 1:53 pm

Hi
I have a 2014 Mk8 transit 2.2 77000 miles
It went into limp mode as the eml came on
The codes read dpf blocked and glow plug 2 faulty
I had the dpf chemically cleaned and all 4 glow plugs replaced
All setting reset so happy days

Then5 days later after only 100 miles the eml on again and back into limp mode
Took back to garage and dpf reading was 170 which they said impossible after the clean
So they reset again

1 day later eml back in and in limp mode ..
They then told me it could be needing a software update form Ford on ecu
That’s £100 so before I go ahead has anyone else had this or a similar problem ???

Thanks

I’ve seen posts on here that say the a faulty vaporiser can give this problem

Having the dpf cleaned, has got rid of the symptom of the problem but not the cause...
Something is wrong that's causing it not to regen, once above 150% blocked it will not regen itself anyway.

Garage that diagnosed it should have looked into the cause, without knowing what,if any other codes were,it could be the vaporiser that's blocked as mentioned,a faulty thermostat or some other sensor issues.

Hi AWBuilders,

Just wondering what the final result of your issue was?

My custom seems to have the same sort of issue, it tried to do a regen but due to faulty glow plugs it failed. I've since got all the glow plugs replaced and now its coming up with a blocked DPF :? Just trying to get a heads up as what could be happening before i send it for a DPF clean

Many Thanks :)
