Plug above roof liner, What's it for?

Postby Shellyus » Mon May 18, 2020 12:29 pm

Hello,

Just taken my roof liner out on my high roof transit 2015 and found this 2 pin plug with an ignition live wire going into it, I've tested it with volt meter. Anyone know what it used for or normally attached to and also could I use it to power my reversing cam that I am wireing in? Thanks all.

No idea but what's the wire colours? Can you trace the harness to anywhere?
It may be live when ignition is on but it depends what's it's being fed from as to how much load it could support.

It yellow with orange stripes on it shares the same harness onto this plug from the interior light and travels down the front window pillar to to wherever, think it's a separate wire just following this wire. Thanks

No because roof marker lights will have their own mini harness that connects to plug you have found then splits to feed both lamps (Mk5's did)......to confirm just check that plug goes live only when headlamp are switched on :?:

PS could also be for a roof beacon :?:

Weird I haven't logged onto the forum in ages. And my exact question from working on my camper conversion last night is here. I also have the plug above the passenger door? Could it be used for other things even of designed for lights e.g. monitor for reversing camera??
