Raised suspension...

Postby nobbynomad » Sun Jun 21, 2020 7:59 pm

Hey folks, I want to raise the suspension on my mk 8 by a couple of inches. Does anyone know if this can be done? Also if anyone can recommend anyone who can do this for me, Kent area but more specifically Medway towns. Thank you in advance....

From what I understand the struts are similar to the Mk6 and Mk7 style so a strut crown spacer to match the top of a Mk8 will lift the front no probs, you will just have to be aware of travel Vs lock to lock clearence.
On a Mk7 if you go over ~35mm the steering linkage hits the wishbone on full lock full extension.
I've not personally any physical plying with a Mk8 but I'd like to though reckon I'm a bit far for you unless you fancy a road trip once restrictions are lifted
There's a lad on FB who makes Mk6/7 strut spacers if you could get measurements of the crown I'm sure he could profile them too if no-one else on here can do them?

For the rear you can either get a block made for the spring saddle or get new springs with a different camber from any decent spring manufacturers.

There are also lift kits available for the Mk8 from the states (an I believe Scandinavia?) That you can order online though the last price I saw was $1700.00 plus shipping.

Thanks for your input, the ready made kit sounds good but a bit too pricey for me...
