Cutting out , P228D P0088 fuel pressure issues *FIXED*

Postby diydaly » Thu Jul 02, 2020 9:39 pm

We've had a 2014 transit 2.2 in last month that was intermittently cutting out, unstable idle, not revving cleanly with engine fault on dash. one minute its playing up the next everything clears and runs great!
After scanning with the snap on machine, P228D P0088 & P2291 fault codes stored.
After checking the actual data , we noticed some spikes in the actual & desired fuel pressure.. 1st we tried the fuel rail pressure sensor (came part of the rail from ford, £240!) but the fault remained.
Next we replaced the Fuel pump regulator (in the side of the fuel pump with 2 4mm Allen bolts) and all is good now :) we've since done 200 miles and tested over the last 2 weeks with no bother, previously the fault would return within at least 3-4 miles max.
Found the regulator on eBay for a fraction of the price of the OE ford one!http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481 ... Swl05ecigs
