Is there any socket with full time power?

I plugged my phone in last night however it didn't charge overnight.

My 2014 jumbo dual battery has all the doors open for the whole day all the time. I have checked my aux battery several times following oyour post and its fine!

If you leave the doors open, then it will all shut down and turn the lights off, after about 20 minutes, same as if you've closed it all up.
It's the constant opening and closing of doors that causes the battery issues, because the system never shuts down, and the lights stay on for a while after each time a door is opened.

I wired a couple of sockets to the customer connection point on the drivers seat to provide constant power.

Should be the other way round, me thinks :? The battery closest to the front window is the aux battery.

Thanks for the diagram.

Given that the aux battery is for all other circuits in the van, do you think I'm ok wiring in a 4 way socket usb thingy to power my coolbox and kids phones? Output probably 3amps total?

Forgot to mention, make sure you use an inline fuse.
Each CCP has a 60A fuse as standard, so you need a smaller fuse to protect your new wiring and socket.
You could change the CCP fuse, but it's easier to leave it and put one in the cable from the CCP.
Check the rating of the 4 way socket thing you install. Plastic ones might only be about 8A total.
You also need to find a ground point on the chasis for the negative.

Hi all, just been reading through, there is some excellent information in this thread, thanks.

I have a 2014 custom (2.2 TDCi 290). I have the B configuration (diagram a couple of posts up), my #1 battery needs replacing.

To save me on research/measurement…can someone confirm the spec of the battery I need to buy? A quick look on euro car parts provided a number of option ranging from £100-400 with differing dimensions.

Thanks

I use a pair of Varta E38 batteries (278mmx175mmx175mm) in my Mk7. You can fit a physically bigger battery which is 315mm long, but with 750cca cranking power these don't really need to be bigger, and are less of a struggle to get in and out.

Custom should be the same size box, but it would be good if someone can confirm

Thanks I purchased an inline fuse which I need to fit.

Ironically I had the cooler in the dash ciggy socket as I turned it off to go to bed as it's too noisy. The usb sockets are useful though.
