2014 Transit 350 2.2 TDCi All dash Warning Lights ON

Postby chris2005 » Fri Dec 11, 2020 11:36 pm

Hi All

My 2014 transit 350 has developed a strange electrical fault

Sometimes the Van wont start and the service engine warning is flashing with a beeper

When the van does start the warning lights are off for a few minutes but then they all come back on , ABS , Airbag , traction control , ECU light

Once these lights come on if I turned the Van off it will not restart

Checked the fault codes and the ones below were present

P1607
U0121
U0100
U0159

After these were cleared the van started but after a few minutes the lights came back on and the codes below were stored

U0001
U0140
U0126
U0151

When all the service engine warning is flashing there is no connection to the ECU through the fault code reader

I checked under the bonnet and the ECU area is a mess, very corroded, its been getting a lot of water from the drain from under the windscreen

Looks like you have answered your own question mate.

A thread on water ingress:

If you can live without your van for a couple days, I would unplug the ecu and take it indoors. Try and let it dry out. Add some heat with a hairdryer on low heat and not too close either. Buy some electrical cleaner and douse the connections in the engine bay and the connectors in the ecu. Get a soft bristle toothbrush or something like that and gently clean the contacts. Problem with oxidisation/corrosion whatever it quickly moves down the lengths of wire regardless of whether there is sheathing there or not.

Maybe some kind of stong plastic bag can be used to encase the ecu because I feel like the water is just going to keep getting in... Remeber those see through pencil cases you used to get; that material to wrap around the ecu could help.

Chris, can you tell me which plug was corroded please? I have a similar fault on my van. U0140 is the DTC.
