Timing belt recall

Postby tt225 » Fri Jan 29, 2021 12:23 pm

I've just been into Ford this morning to have the overrun fuse recall done on my 2017 2.0 Eco Blue and was informed that another recall has just been announced relating to the timing belt and its a 5 to 6 hour job. I've not received the letter from Ford yet but the parts are on back order from Germany and my local dealers will contact me when they're in - has anyone else heard about this?

What are the others? I know there was an injector recall on some engines and although all injectors were replaced on a 2017 custom.i had, I never received the letter

They must’ve had a lot of failures for timing belts. They probably going to put a reinforced one in.

Just checked Etis, and mine is on the recall list as well, but it says for a "timing belt inspection". Did they say specifically they were going to do? hoping its more than just an inspection and actually a replacement.

From what they said it was going to be a 5 or 6 hour job so would have thought they'd replace the belt if it takes that long

Thanks p2thed, So it sounds like they’ll do an inspection to determine the state of the belt before deciding to replace it or not. Will check mine myself in the morning if it is just a case of looking into the oil filler cap.
Pretty shoddy really, this is the third recall I’ll have had on my van (missed out on the injector recall), Ive also had a fuel pressure sensor failure leading to a misfiring engine. I’m starting to think they should be buying all these vans back...

Mental note to self make belt inspection part of my routine service.

Who new. Cambelts in oil
Cheers for the heads up!

Nottingham Sandicliffe did say that the parts were on back order but didn't think it was going to be the Summer almost.

Fords replied to a mates email because his trend don’t have folding Mirrors, and their reply was they was short on parts at that time of production. I wonder what they would do if they run out of steering wheels, leave them off

I had the fuse recall done September last year..

Just checked my vehicle for the timing belt but says nothing due on the Ford Etis system?? Mines a 66' plate.. so what has changed if anything in 6 months on the 2.0 Ecoblue? Surely I have the same engine?

We had belt break on 3.5 year old van and Ford have fitted engine under warranty even though out of it.
Van less than 100000 miles.
They are surely admitting a problem.
