Speed limiter removal.

Postby Transit460Camper » Sat Apr 24, 2021 11:09 am

Hello all.
We have owned our 2017 Mk8 for a couple of months, but due to lockdown only did our first lengthy trip yesterday.
Only then did I realize it has a 65mph (ish) speed limiter.
I guess this is a good thing as it will not have been thrashed (hopefully!)

Spoken with our local Ford dealer who have quoted £127.02 to remove it.

Has anyone gone down the removal route, and is this a realistic cost for removal?

Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you!

When Ford did mine it had a taco and it recorded the distance traveled in kilometres the van Speedo didn’t record the mileage they had to transfer it over to it .

I'm sat in a re-map place ATM and these guys can't figure out how to remove the vmax. I think I've wasted my time. The map is ok but I wish I'd have read this post earlier.

I'm sure Martin Vantuner can do it, but he won't do it if still a bus.
