electrical problems

Postby paul255 » Thu May 06, 2021 4:59 pm

Hi all all first post here. Are these vans prone to electrical problems.I,ve just purchased a 2015 reg with 22k miles.First problem is the damn step not being sensed as closed is there a way of turning it off altogether?second, the radio loses its memory over night, third the central locking only works right after i.ve driven it.fourth and the worst is that I,ve lost all dash power so no indicators, speedo etc but the van does start and drive.the only bonus of this is that I don,t have to go through the routine of turning off the step at the moment.
Any advice would be welcome.I am also removing seats and tow bar if anyone wants any.

At least two, and possibly three of those problems should go away when you replace the auxilliary battery under the drivers seat.

I think it's the rearmost one in a Mk8, but to be honest, if they're both the original batteries, you should probably replace them both at the same time :)

Leave the battery on charge overnight. In the morning if you still have problems even though your battery is full try the battery connections and the vans earth connections
