Code P204F

My van has had the mil light come on the other morning on first start up and got coedP204F I cleared it with a code reader and it never came on again till the next time I started it from cold next day I cleared it again and ok again what do I need to look at to sort it out .
I can’t believe the problems this van keeps having I got it at 7000 mls now done 34000 it’s giving me more problems then my mk6 135 tdci that had a 100000 mls on it it when I got it and was still going strong at 150000 when I sold it .

P204F _ Reductant System Performance.
Its setting the code because there is a fault with the adblue system or there is an issue upstream that is causing the system to not meet the required specs for euro 6/6.2 emissions. Has the van got any running issues, any other codes present, how is the quality of the adblue you are using.

Hi thanks for reply the add blue is carlube the performance is not affected it’s not coming up on the dash that it needs filling the only other problems the power step brings up service engine now but as soon as you turn the ignition back on it clears you have barelyany time to read the the fault before it clears and don’t come back on for about up to 20 mile then it’ll come back on it has flashed up a step problem all the time I’ve had it but only in the last year had it put the message up.if this is a add blue problem will effect the dpf regen I’ve heard of truck companies having the ad blue turned off with it giving problems not that I want to turn it off .

Had the van out at the weekend and was I but this morning back on again I just hope that it’s ok as I’ve got to use the van at the weekend before I can get someone to look at it .

Been looking on YouTube and it looks like it’s the heater in the add blue tank this was a USA video and it is saying that over there that this. code had been given a extended warranty has anyone heard of this applying in the UK

Update had into local Ford they have updated the bcm and the instrument cluster and say this will cure it will find out on next first run of the day I hope this cluster update will tell me when it’s doing a regen .only downside is it may have lost the vantuner remap and I’m sure before the update it had turn off hill start assist in the menu it doesn’t seem to be there just hope it’s not now back on.

Update number two didn’t sort it going back in must admit I was not expecting it to be just an update .

Yes Al lost the map the first Time local Ford had it but still everything I had turned off is still off .Best mpg vantuner 38 to 33 now map gone down to 27 mpg the only trouble is I won’t be going to Brandshatch till January only time of year I get in his area. .

Latest update had a reductive heater element in the add blue tank and need a new thermostat as not getting up to temperature for static regen .

My 460 Minibus just popped up with this code P204F also with the MIL on, did yours get sorted with changes?

I was on holiday in Ireland and had the add blue problem it had to go into Ford dealership they fitted the heater in the add blue tank and I asked them to allso do a static regeneration but they couldn’t have done it because after 80 miles the van went into limp mode again back in and it wouldn’t regenerate because it had a duff thermostat.
