2015 2.2 Euro 6 Transit DPF issues. Regen temps?

Postby roperman » Mon Oct 18, 2021 7:16 pm

Hi, got a 2015 2.2 Euro 6 Transit minibus that seems to have developed a DPF issue.

Keeps throwing the soot accumulation code, I've had it out on a run, and it looks like its trying to do a regen, but only hitting about 500 degrees C on the front two temp probes, and maybe 350 on the rear one.

Exhaust pressure difference is about 2kpa at idle, and about 20kpa at 60mph according to IDS.

What temps should the front probes get to? I've had a quick search and 650 degrees seems to be mentioned.

My suspicion is the vapouriser is blocked, or is there anything else I should be looking at? Going to have a bash at getting it off tomorrow.

Its also throwing a p420, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1), which I believe is the rear oxygen sensor. Could this be related? This one doesn't seem to put the engine light on, and seems to be related to nOx figures rather than the DPF

Any advice?

Kind regards,
Danny

Maybe of no help but when mine wouldn’t do a forced regen it was the thermostat

Vapouriser was blocked. It actually came out fairly easy too. All the ones on mk7s I've done required me to cut it in half and get a full socket and impact gun on it

Now its fixed it seems to have stopped the p420 coming back too (although I did reset the learned values of the rear nox sensor while I was on IDS so may have been that).
