what triggers a re-gen

hi whats the reason why a car does a re-gen? is one thing , a sensor ? a serie of things ?

If a number of sensors register values within certain parameters then bingo - regen is triggered. These are things like exhaust temp, engine temp, % soot int the DPF filter.
Its a bit like trying to get a pass out from the missus - stars and the moon need to be just right and away you go
