Loss of power above 2000 Rpm. Service Now Warning on/off

Postby Robbieben » Sun Jan 02, 2022 4:14 pm

I currently have a fault on my 2016 2.0 transit custom.

When accelerating up through the gearbox all seems ok up to 2000 Rpm but then pulling power drops right off above 2000 Rpm, if i keep in that gear and allow the revs to climb I eventually get the "Sevice Now" warning displayed with the Yellow "I" info light illuminated, change up to the next gear and it goes away and stays off when not labouring the engine. I don't get an Engine warning light coming on and the van does not go into limp mode.

Fault codes all point to injector electrical circuit but after testing the wiring I find no fault on the circuit for the injectors,

Lack of power at high revs/load could just be fuel starvation, when was the fuel filter last changed?

New genuine Ford fuel filter fitted a week ago to rule out the possibility that it could be causing fuel starvation

Injectors are at fault, very common issue on the 2ltr. Ford released several recalls for this fault.

The fault is the N0.1 Exhaust gas temperature sensor :D Injectors aren't actually at fault they just put up a fault code as they can't deliver enough fuel.

The temperature sensor is reporting exhaust gas temp as -40 degrees, the ECU is adding fuel to try to correct the low temperature, injectors can't deliver the required amount so it brings on the injector faults.

Do you know the location of the sensor that was changed and has it cured the fault ?

There are 3 exhaust gas temperature sensors, first one is at the turbo before the DPF, 2nd is after the DPF and 3rd is about 400mm past the 2nd one, the engine looks at all 3 sensors to provide correct temperatures for emmissions by regulating fuel.
My first and 3rd sensors were both faulty, now they are replaced I don't have the injector fault which was caused by the constant request for fuel by the ECU as it thought exhaust temperature was too low.

Hey. I thing I have the same problem. Did you manage to solve the problem? Did you change all 3 sensors?

Can someone recommend me a cheap scanner to check for errors?

Thanks.

Having the same issues...

Geeting dual values but egt senser 3 is showing dual and different values?

===PCM DTC P126A:11-AF===
Code: P126A - Cylinder 1 Injector Input Circuit

Additional Fault Symptom (:11):
- Circuit Short To Ground

Status (-AF):
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is On for this DTC

Module: Powertrain Control Module

Freeze Frame #1:
-EVENT_TIME: 238305816 s (Sat Jan 27 18:22:44 2024) - Event time
-TOTAL_DISTANCE: 86731 km - Total Distance
-MODULE_VOLTAGE: 14.8 V - Control Module Voltage
-OUTDOOR_TEMPERATURE: 5 °C - Outside temperature
===END PCM DTC P126A:11-AF===

Reading from forscan I get egt values that seems correct frpom 2 sensora, dual values egt11 and egt12 and thay are egual

For egt13 get -40 and 65 degrees....?

Can anyone plaease assist?

I'd change your number one injector as it has a short to ground. Mine had this, I changed my number 3 egt sensor as it had a -40 reading. I think this is normal as the number 4 egt sensor (which on mine there isn't one) had default readings of 1000 and -40.
