DPF CONFUSION

Postby carlburt78 » Tue Apr 12, 2022 9:36 pm

Basically guys I use my van for courier work and drive the same areas 6 days a week , and it usually regens once a day and usually around the 70 mile mark , over the last few days it's been regening at less than 30 miles and it happened 3 times today ! The DPF was new and I had it fitted in December Last year..... anyway I was worried it might be getting blocked so I checked on Forscan and the soot levels are only at 38%..... so I'm not sure why its regening as much considering I'm travelling the same routes as I do everyday, possible fault in the system?

This has got to be the worst Transit I have ever owned ! My DPF is regening at about 30 miles which for me is 2- 3 times a day , what I'm finding odd is it wasnt this bad until I had it refitted after a DPF delete, should the DPF values have been reset after the Dpf files were added to the ECU again after the delete? Prior to its removal it was regening at about 80 miles which I'd say is acceptable because of how I use the van

Im knew to all this DPF but after a little research i seem to get the idea of what this does. However you guys seem to know when it is regenning so to speak. Can you tell me how you know?
Does a regen dash light com on? does the engine sound different? how on earth do you know?
On the down side it would seem that I need a knew one or refurbed as the MOT man failed on emissions. I have a 2016 2.2 AWD so not that old but old in van terms.

Hi , I know because I drive my van between 6-8 hours a day , and for me I know because the engine tone changes and there is a distinct smell from the exhaust, also as the DPF gets hot you can feel the extreme heat coming from under the van ...... someone who uses their van on long journeys with few stops will not notice this but I'm in and out my van up to 200 times a day being a courier so I notice absolutely everything.... my van has nothing in the terms of Tech but I know 100% when it is regening, I can now even know just in how it drives, it's as if you get more power all of a sudden and it feels more unstable, today it regened 3 times in under 100 miles but the readings on Forscan said that my DPF load and soot load were only at 20 a d 22%
