Our turbo on our 2015 lwb mark went pop yesterday. What a nightmare to get offthe turbo, have a turbo to replace it.
Are at the stage of trying to remove the bolts on the manifold everything was seized. Never known a vehicle where everybolts is so tight and seized had to cut the head of the bolts.
How would you now remove the studs?

The one stud I have 2 nuts on but the other stud we cant get any nuts so may to try welding a nut onto. Have heated the area with a blow torch and then plenty on penetrating oil. Dont want to snap off the stud which may mean taking of the manifold with those bolts as well. On our old mark 6 when we put a replacement engine in a number of years ago never had a problem with very tight and seized nuts and bolts.
If you have enough threads left on the studs to screw two nuts on then if you lock them together by tighten then together the use the spanner on the inside nut to undo the stud .you can also get a tool that goes over the stud and lamps on to the and as you turn it screws the stud out.

I had the exact same issue when I swapped my turbo on the same engine. I snapped the stud about halfway along its length. I tried all sorts to get the stud out of the manifold, including welding nuts on. But I couldn’t do it, it wasn’t budging. So I had to replace the manifold with a second hand part.
Sorry to say it, but you should probably not bother wasting time like I did trying to get the stud out, and just crack on with sourcing a replacement manifold. It’s a bit of a fiddle to change the manifold as well - the bolts to the EGR cooler are tricky to get at.
I’ll bet you won’t get the stud out, but if you do manage it let us know how you did it.
Does anyone know if there should be a gasket between the exhaust manifold and the AGR at the back of the head and between the turbo and the manifold, there was none as we took it apart.
The more you read about the MK8 transit the more you realise what a shite vehicle it is I habe a jumbo 2014 with only 100k on it and its a total dog, my mates water company uses them, one 2016 van has had two new engines in one year at around £8k a shot, first one overheating - ford couldnt fix it!!!!! second one broke the crank after 9 months and fard just said 'you abused it and we wont honour the warranty'....
