Hi guys n gals…
Just replaced my trusty mk7 with a 2018 L3H2 2.0 eco blue
Been getting mixed responses when discussing my new purchase,
Is there an issue with the water pump on these engines as I’ve been
informed that apparently they’re prone to failing resulting in a new
engine required, my thinking is that if this is so, then the pump must
be driven by the timing belt…. If this is the case I’ll get the belts, pulleys
and pump swapped out asap for peace of mind.
Also, if there’s any other known issues that can be pre-empted,

Hi I have a mk8 ecoblue that’s had/has issues, not sure on the water pumps but the cam belts were deteriorating due to the fact of them being run in oil and the results were blocking up the oil feeds then starving the engine of oil. Iv also has plenty of other bits but I’m unsure if I just bought that one bad one, I certainly don’t have the best of luck. I bought mine with 92k miles and has since has rebuilt engine, turbo, alternator etc…it still doesn’t seem quite right but that’s why I’m trying to do my research on here….

I concur. Hoestly we have had issues with our van since day 1 of ownership.
It was a 2017 dropside with 75000 2.0 and came with a full ford service printout. It was looked after but still seems to give more issues than any other vehicle i have owned.
Why? who knows; but it is a great van when she runs right, comfy, good power, good payload, pulls well when loaded, just an expensive beast for some reason.
