MK8 EGR Coolant Pipe blown off

Postby adebruce » Mon Jun 20, 2022 7:11 pm

Hi, I have a mk8, and the coolant pipe coming out of the egr unit (press-fitted at factory!), blew off, causing all water to come out. I had it replaced, thinking it was faulty but, despite the temperature gauge showing normal for a few days, the new one has blown off! I'm guessing there's a blockage. it's worth noting that I have not had heat in the cab for 2-3 weeks, so could this be causing it? thanks

On the 2.2 engine at least it's not just a press fit, it should have a hose clamp. If yours is missing hose clamp that might explain it blowing off.
