Transit Mk8 length

Postby kaheslo2 » Sat Jul 02, 2022 6:03 pm

Which Transit models are 7.1m long? I've seen motorhomes this long but could not find any on the Chassis Cab brochure that were this long, at least from when I downloaded the PDF?

Is this a custom chassis cab model I'm not aware of?

Info was obtained from a motorhome guide which listed a Chausson motorhome as 7.1m in length, but I couldn't find info on any Transit that had that length.

They maybe make there own chassis extension I believe on some fwd Peugeot Citroen conversions are built from a manufacturer supplied kit that is the complete front end a separate rear axle frame that the camper builder fits there own chassis in between.
On rwd drive conversion some seem to have a hell of a overhang behind the rear axle so may have an extension just bolted to the back to extend the length.

Ford make a Motorhome chassis cab in 3 lengths, the longest has a wheel base of about 4 metres. The chassis is extended at the rear by the Motorhome builder. Mine is made by Rimor and the extension (galvanised C channel) is attached to the rear of the chassis using the towbar mountings.
