Fuel filter Blocked

It was on my list to replace the fuel filter on our 2.2 lwb rwd mark8 107,000 miles 2015. last replaced about 20,000 miles ago. On monday morning we had an error message fuel filter blocked so replaced the filter in the afternoon easy enough to do, thought now end of story. But today the message has appeared 3 times turn off the egine and do a restart and it then clears itselfs. What could be causing this message? Thank you all for your help
