FOB remote programming

Postby Blizz » Mon Jul 11, 2022 8:02 am

Hello,

Yesterday suddenly both my remotes quit working. I still have to check the fuses (There's one for the remote receiver and telematics) but could not check yet.

Anyways, do you know how to program a remote on a 2022 mk8? I tried cycling 8 times the ignition but nothing happened... There's no option on FORScan either.

Thanks,

David

If the key starts the van, then the remote is programmed, there's no individual programming on these. The turning on and off thing was for the Mk6 which had a separate key and remote locking fob.

 If your van has two batteries, check that the aux battery still has power (unlikely on a new van, but costs nothing to check).

Good to know that the key and FOB can't be "separated".

Will check the fuse #31 on the BCM wich says Data link connector. Remote key receiver.

I will update.

Well, just in case anyone has the same problem than me...

During the first ride after the remote issue a TMPS sensor error appeared. That made me think... "What did you do before the error?"

I lowered the cabin trim for insulating (Could not remove it completely due to lots of wires) and then thought... "Maybe I disconnected something before deciding not to remove it completely?"

Answer was yes, I did.

There's a plug in the roof console, that is the remote and TPMS receiver. Plugged it again and voilà, all works as shoud.

That fits well with the old adage "If there's a fault, always check the last thing you did" 8)

A good spot of diagnosis :D
